Frequently asked

Questions to ask before taking part.

What is a clinical trial?

A clinical trial is a research study involving volunteers that is designed to answer specific questions about medical products or therapies, including their safety and effectiveness.

Does submitting the interest form enroll me in a study?

No. The form only tells Nexera SF that you would like to hear about potential opportunities. A study team must explain a specific study, obtain informed consent, and determine eligibility before enrollment.

How is eligibility determined?

Each study has inclusion and exclusion criteria. After the study is explained and you choose whether to continue, research staff use screening questions, tests, or examinations specified by that study to determine eligibility.

Is participation voluntary?

Yes. Choosing not to participate should not cause a penalty or loss of benefits, and a participant may discontinue participation at any time. The study team will explain any procedures for leaving a specific study.

Will I definitely receive the treatment being studied?

Not necessarily. Depending on the study design, participants may be assigned to different groups, including a comparison or placebo group. The informed-consent process explains how assignments work for a specific study.
